We are excited to share an important update about Mecartea & Associates, PLLC and the future of our firm. Arizona now permits an Alternative Business Structure (ABS), which allows non-lawyers to hold an ownership interest in a law firm.

 

This progressive model is not yet available in most U.S. states, making Arizona a leader in modernizing the legal industry. Mecartea & Associates, PLLC is proud to be part of this movement. As we move forward, we will be completing the required ABS registration to formalize this structure for our firm. While Arizona does not require submission of firm bylaws at this time, we continue to ensure full compliance with all Arizona regulations.

 

For our work across multiple states, Mecartea & Associates, PLLC will also be registering as a “foreign entity” wherever required. This process includes annual reporting and appointing registered agents in each state in which we operate. To support this, we have incorporated jurisdictional addenda into our policies to ensure compliance across all regions we serve.

Additionally, we will be developing several required policies—such as a Whistleblower Policy and a Record Retention Policy—as part of our expanding ABS-compliant governance structure.
