Trustworthy Advocacy: Defending Your Rights

Non-Lawyers Legal Services at Mecartea and Associates, PLLC

At Mecartea and Associates, PLLC, we integrate authorized nonlawyer professionals into our legal service model to expand access to affordable legal help across the U.S. While nonlawyers cannot practice law without proper authorization, several states have approved limited roles that allow them to provide certain legal services under strict oversight.

We operate within these regulated frameworks, offering services through:

	•	Arizona Legal Paraprofessionals (LPs): Authorized to give legal advice, appear in court, and draft documents in family law, landlord-tenant, limited civil, limited administrative law, adoption law, and debt matters.

	•	Utah Licensed Paralegal Practitioners (LPPs): Permitted to independently assist with select civil legal issues.

	•	California Legal Navigators: Help self-represented individuals navigate court processes and access legal resources (without giving legal advice).

	•	Washington (formerly LLLT Program): While now closed, Washington pioneered the Limited License Legal Technician model, which informs our continued advocacy for nonlawyer involvement.

Our services follow all state rules governing the unauthorized practice of law (UPL) and align with national efforts to close the justice gap. Each role is carefully regulated to ensure quality, compliance, and client protections.
